Theory and Practice of Physical Modeling for Musical Sound Transformations: An Instrumental Approach to Digital Audio Effects Based on the CORDIS-ANIMA System

This thesis proposes the use of CORDIS-ANIMA physical modeling formalism as a mean of designing musical sound transformations under the concept of instrumental interaction. It provides new results and new discussions in musical signal processing and in the design of digital audio effects. The aim is to investigate the possibilities of physical modeling to provide more “plausible” sound modifications and alternative control procedures.
